Where in the world are Dani and Jason?

Well...let me tell you!

Monday, March 31 we will fly to Lusaka, Zambia! We will stay the night with a fellow PCV stationed in Zambia then take a bus from Lusaka to Kapiri Mposhi where we will board the Tazara train line headed to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Yes, we're taking a TRAIN through Southern Africa, awesome!

We'll arrive in Dar on April 3rd or 4th (depending on whether or not the train breaks down) and we'll spend a few nights there. We will then take a ferry to ZANZIBAR and spend a week "chillaxing" (as Patrick would say) on the beach!

Zanzibar is a place that David Livingstone described as "the finest place I have known in all of Africa...an illusive place where nothing is as it seems. I am mesmerized..." (1866). :)

We'll be setting up camp the archipelago's biggest island Unguja, which is 1651 square km. We have booked a backpackers in the main city, Stone Town. Stone Town is...

"centered on an alluring Arabian-style labyrinth of crooked narrow alleyways, packed to the rafters with nineteenth-century masions, palaces and bazaars."

We plan on doing some exciting day trips including a spice tour, tours of old slave trading posts and turkish baths, mosque hopping :), beach crawling all the while eating LOADS of fresh sea food!

We will then return to Dar, board the train headed back to Zambia, spend a few days in Lusaka, taking in the sites of the Zambian capitol and then we'll fly back to SA on April 15.

I'm ridiculously excited and quite pleased with the fact that I served as travel agent on this trip (hopefully it goes as smoothly as described above). We will be traveling with 10 other PCVs (including our fantastic friend from home, Patrick, who is now serving as PCV in Botswana) so there should never be a dull moment.

Wish us luck!
